Our Julie & Julia Experience

Saturday night we watched Julie & Julia, and I'm really surprised at how much Abe really got into it.  I liked it even more than I expected to, but mainly because I love Stanley Tucci and I was super amused that Sue Sylvester played Julia Child's sister.  I mean talk about unexpected!

Today we went to the grocery store so that Abe could prepare himself to make Julia Child's Boeuf Bourguignon.  It's a stew prepared with beef and red wine, amongst many other delectible little veggies.  I've never had anything like this before.  This is not something where you throw things into the pot and let it do it's thing in the oven.  I didn't watch Abe cook it as I was busy packing boxes, but let me tell you, it took him about 3 hours from start to finish.  I have no idea how someone could do this sort of thing after work, it's definitely a weekend kind of meal.

The beef is so tender, and the mushrooms are full and flavorful.  Is that bacon you see in there?  Oh yeah there's totally bacon in there.  This meal is rather filling and worth every bite!  Abe did a really great job on this one.  I think he's become the new cook in the house.
