Pain in the neck

Oh to be a commuter in the city. Walk to the train station, get on the crowded T, get off and change lines and get on another train, and then get off and walk up to my office. It is a quite involved routine that I have. All along the way I'm carrying a giant bag on my right shoulder. It used to hold:
  • my lunch in tupperware
  • a water bottle
  • commuter style coffee
  • umbrella
  • my sneakers
  • gym clothes
  • lotion
  • my day planner
  • my wallet
  • phone
  • ipod
  • a book to read
  • face wash
  • snacks
I decided somewhere down the line that it was too much, and now it consists of:
  • water bottle
  • commuter coffee
  • wallet
  • book
  • little camera (for the blog)
  • umbrella
  • phone
  • and i carry a lunch tote on the other side
Well, I think that I've really F-ed up my body from this. My shoulder and neck and back are really killing me, not just when I'm holding my bag, I'm just in pain sitting here. Yeah sure it is something that always hurt, but my commute is longer now so i'm holding my bag more. I see hundreds of other women during the day with bags equal in size to mine and they are wearing heels while I'm just shuffling along in flip flops like an understyled semi-pro. How do they do it? I also see women carrying: a laptop bag, a giant handbag, and a gym bag all at once, it's honestly quite impressive. Maybe they have excellent chiropractors or doting husbands who massage their necks when they get home. What can I do? I don't want to have to buy my coffee or my lunch...tomorrow I'm going to take a smaller bag and see what happens, I can't carry on like this!
