Potato sticks!

I love these things. I used to eat them with my bagged lunches in elementary school. I never knew they were pure junk food. And now today as I eat them with my bagged lunch in my cube they don't taste quite as good as they used to. Something is missing and it might be a juicebox.

AP day!

Happy administrative professional day! Even though I'm no longer an admin I get to relish in having one really great holiday. There are gift baskets and flowers and hopefully some cash. Its a very unappreciated profession so make sure you recognize your admin today for all her hard work and smiles.

surprises unveiled

The mystery wrapped packages for our anniversary to abe.
the white wrapped small box was the new prada cologne for abe. he like never even wears scents, but when he does feel like wearing one, he figures he wants a good one. yes it's really that color purple.

and of course, some much anticipated deep soup bowls for our asian food consuming. these bowls are super cute and deep enough to hold lots of white rice topped with layers of veggies. i was really beyond happy with them when i did see them in person. they're by Rosanna and they shipped promptly and arrived all in one piece.

Awesome

Yesterday the movers came and with only a few casualties placed us and all our belongings into our new home. Its really great minus the amount of storage space going on. We went to target today to get shelving for the pantry and another bookcase for the spare room and a bunch of other necessities. This time around we've been much faster unpacking and settling in. I realized that if we don't do it right away that it will never get done.

The pre-move

We didn't think about storage space when we got this place. There is nowhere to put our pots, pans, and small appliances. We are going to have to make some extra space somehow. Oye! Who knew we had so much kitchen stuff?

Flowering trees

The trees are in full bloom in the public garden. Ok not all the trees but the pretty ones are. Probably the same ones giving me allergies. I think I might start bringing my lunch here to eat.

Another mystery

What could be in that white wrapped gift? A deck of cards? A can of sardines? Dehydrated space icecream!
No. None of those. Its my small anniversary gift for abe.

a new day

i got a solid 8 hours of sleep last night. for breakfast i had a smoothie consisting of lowfat soy milk, a small banana, and a tsp. of peanut butter. i feel like that was one of the more energizing breakfasts i've ever made myself. i could go run 10 miles right now - ok maybe 5. sometimes all i really need is a good night of rest and lots of nutrients to get me back on track. today is going to be around 70, so i'm going to head out for a lunchtime walk. after work i have my friday abs class at the gym, then i'm getting my eyebrows done (she cancelled and rescheduled for today), and then if i'm up for it since the weather is so nice i'm going to try and find that bike trail on a run. we'll see though, that's like a lot for a friday. i do still need to pack and move some things to the new place tonight, but atleast i can always say to myself: abe is coming back tomorrow morning and he can help me out so i should enjoy this nice weather outdoors, because in new england it could be gone in an hour.

sunday is abe and my two year anniversary of our first date. in one respect, it's like: 2 years, i've only really known him for 2 years and we're getting married! and in another respect it's like: 2 years, that's a lifetime. our first date was at ruth's chris steakhouse so we'll be returning there next week after our move to enjoy a nice steak together.

Just too much

well that horrible face i was making in last night's post was telling. i woke up this morning at 5am with cold sweats and a sore throat: i'm sick. i wasn't able to fall back to sleep and had to be up at 7 to get in a little early today. debby and i were supposed to go out for lunch, so i didn't pack one, and now debby is out sick. she could just be hungover though since she went to the celtics game last night. i'm thinking that i've probably stressed myself out too much and actually made myself sick. i moved cubes, i've been packing for the big apt move, i've been doing errands, locking myself out, eating all the perishables, unsuccessfully making key copies, taking out extra trash and recycling, organizing paperwork, keeping an eye on cleo's condition, and just doing too much. luckily i do have a little bit of down time tonight. i'm going to get my eyebrows shaped at a place in davis square that i've yet to visit. it looks really nice and i've only read great reviews for it, so i have some high hopes. my eyebrows look like fuzzy caterpillars crawling across my face. i would take a before and after picture...but honestly, it's just too embarrassing. i'm pretty sure people have been staring at them for the past week wondering why i'm so blind to them, but i'm not blind, it just took a while to get an appointment. it's not that i enjoy waxing, it's that i enjoy having perfectly shaped brows done by a professional.

I went to target for...

A shower rod. But that's not what I came home with. I didn't even buy a shower rod due to measurement issues. I got a super sweet white and pink watch for working out. Its water resistant and it was only $14.99! How could I not buy that! Only at target can you find this kind of treasure i mean really, i walk in with high hopes of bathroom decoration and end up with a wrist watch.

tonight, i stopped by our new place where technically today is the first day of our lease.  the parking garage seems impossible to find, and someone was parked in our spot.... ok, no problem, i parked somewhere else there were plenty of places.  i go up to our unit and it's unlocked.  i let myself in and there's dirt all over the place, big chunks of dirt from boots or something.  what is with this?  it was not my dream moment.  i was hoping to walk in there with it sparkling clean and me thinking: i can't wait to live here.  instead i thought:  where is my landlord's number!!  and then i leave and bring the keys to be copied because one of the keys he gave doesn't work.  unfortunately that key was impossible to find at the key place i went, i'll have to go somewhere else another day.  good thing i found the awesome watch or i'd be really really neck high in a bag of lays potato chips right now eating my feelings.

Shoes!!

Circa Joan & David "Steele" sandal. i want these. $98 which is a little pricey but they do look well made. i've seen them in person and they were really cute, and i just keep seeing them and keep loving them, so it must be a sign. the shoe gods are telling me that i should have these.

Rude awakening

I woke up this morning at 7am to the bed shaking so violently I thought that someone was trying to shake me awake. But abe is out of town and there was nobody here but panda. I looked up and my water glass was swirling around so I knew I wasn't making it up. This continued for 15 minutes. I couldn't go back to sleep and then I became angry. I can't wait to move in just 5 days. I'm going to add idiot bed shaking to my list of reasons to leave this place without regret.

i'm a what!

i don't really like to talk about work on First Class Panda, but today is a new day.  i got a promotion within my company.  i am now a Benefits Analyst.  what does a benefits analyst do you ask?  i'll tell you what they don't do!  order kitchen supplies.  i'm very excited to try something new, although it's not like totally new because it's at the same company i've been at since graduation, but i'm moving cubes to the other side of the office and i'll have new neighbors and i'll have to go to happy hours and i will probably get business cards people.  business cards!!  they never gave me any of those as an administrative assistant.  i am one notch cooler today.

Movie filming

In the Boston public garden right now. I wonder who is in this one.

i'm seeing spots.

i have troubled skin, oily breakout prone, teenage skin, whatever you want to call it.  i have acne.  i've tried lots of things.  pretty much the same results with everything i've tried:  initially things improve, my skin is nicer looking, then months later disaster strikes.  i've been using proactive for like a year now and at first it was fantastic, my skin had never looked better, breakouts were few and far between.  the past few months have seemed to reverse the effect.  my skin is more broken out now than it was when i began this regime.  i'm ready to move on, i kind of knew deep down that this wasn't the solution for me.  i mean...it's all chemicals and everyone says how bad it is for you longterm.  so today i got the courage to call and cancel the deliveries.  i am thinking about trying Bliss or something similar that is all natural.  i don't know though, it seems the more natural it is, the more it costs.  the bliss lotion is like $50 and then you need the cleanser, toner, and spot treatment.  hm.  is this the price i'm going to have to pay to find what works?  of course.  nothing comes for free.

mmm new thai

i love food courts in malls.  i think they're just the greatest things ever invented.  you want something fast, cheap, and tasty?  you aren't sure what you want, but you want to see what's available?  well then a food court is for you.  abe and i dropped into the cambridgeside galleria on saturday to get him some new luggage and stopped at the food court for some lunch.  there's a new thai place that was fantastic!!  i forget what it was called but the logo was a chili pepper.  i got veggie pad thai and some orange flavored chicken.  the chicken was more chinese food but the pad thai was authentic considering we were in a food court.  abe got the basil chicken which is normally his favorite thai meal, and he thought it was pretty tasty.  i can't wait for the day that i forgot about it and then drop into that food court again.  hopefully it lasts, i think thai food is scary to some people who aren't familiar with it.  like korean i guess.  you don't see thai and korean places and takeout places around every corner.  oh well, i'm going to check on that thai place in a month and hope it's still there!

Bday weekend

this weekend was so busy. veronica's bday, kerri's bday and jess' bday.  i didn't actually make it to veronica's though, the plans were just too last minute for me to squeeze in.  so i had dinner and drinks with my girlfriends at the living room and then moved on to goody glover's in the north end for jess' party.  it was surprising how smoothly things went and i got home at 1 still full from dinner and ready for bed.  what we should have done this weekend was more packing...  currently 5 medium sized boxes are done, but i really want to get like 15 done by wednesday.  abe is leaving for south america today till thursday.  so it looks like i'm the captain of this packing boat and it needs to get done someway somehow.  i'm sure i'll be able to do it, and then i need to re-measure for our washer and dryer, and make key copies, and eat all our perishables out of the fridge and freezer.  this was going to be a vegan week for me, but it looks like it's going to be just a crazy meal week for me.  like frozen peas and carrots on top of chicken nuggets on top of a bed of frozen spinach or something.  i can actually see myself really enjoying that though.  i have so many tasks!

Personalized vitamin packs

Mindy Kaling, who i do not personally know, but feel a personal connection with did a little writeup on Vuru today. http://www.vuru.com/ it's a place where you can put together daily vitamin packs. so to personalize it, i name the pack, and then i drop in whatever vitamins i want to take on a daily basis and then i just tell them to send me however many days i want. it's supposed to make your life easier by being able to just grab a little packet on your run out the door in the morning instead of grabbing several bottles - if you take that many pills. i like this idea because i only take a daily multivitamin and i hate it, it gives me a burning stomach ache for 10 minutes on most days if i don't have enough liquid swirling around in my tummy. but on vuru they even have an easy on the stomach multi. interesting. so if i wanted i could take that one, a hair skin and nails supplement, and a flaxseed oil pill, and have it all in one little pouch. they even tell you how much each pill costs and how much your pouch is costing you per day, and i did out the math and thought it was totally reasonable and to do it yourself like to buy all the vitamins and just put them into plastic baggies would not be all that much cheaper. i think that this would be a really good idea for someone like abe. he never remembers little things like this in the morning, so if he just had a few packs at work at his desk he'd remember to take all his daily supplements in one. i dont think he believes in supplements though, he thinks you pee most things out. i know you could argue about vitamins all day long, but in the end, there's no way that a person gets everything they need from what they eat in a day. i've seen what i eat in a day and i've seen what he eats in a day and even though i'm very healthy, i'm lacking a lot of nutrients and so is he. i'm going to think about this vuru product and what it can do for me.

Free scoop day!

Yesterday was free scoop day at jp licks. The line was crazy but justified. You could get any flavor you wanted! I got cake batter and Becca got some kind of mocha flavor. It was really good and I don't even like icecream. Some people were getting seconds of their free scoop.

Money everywhere

I just came across some startling numbers. There is a cute old Asian guy who is always collecting cans but he doesn't actually look homeless to me. He looks grubby but from like digging through trash all day. Anyways I figured that this guy just isn't homeless at all and he collects the cans because he is retired and has nothing better to do. If he collects 1000 cans a day which I bet he does he is going to make over $17500 a year. That's like a lot of extra income. And I think this guy actually works as a team with his wife. So imagine twice that is actually a full income. That's just crazy to me!

Or he is homeless. Its hard to say. But I can say he's not penniless.

Love.

earrings are an extension of your fun side.

birthday girls

i have three birthday parties to go to this saturday: 3. that's a lot considering i don't even have that many friends who live around here anymore. what is a girl to do? i'm thinking that i'm going to have to sacrifice 1 in the north end and send abe for the pair of us with my regards. the other two are dinners....i' m going to need to either cut one short and run out or just skip one entirely to spend the full time at only one. this really stresses me out for some reason. what to do....well in the end i know what i'll probably have to do, but it's only fair i guess, she made it out for my birthday. maybe i can stop by and see birthday girl number one earlier in the evening, yeah that sounds like a good compromise.

the white dress

i talked to my mom today and she asked when i was going to start looking at wedding dresses.  i said probably june, and she's like:  are you still thinking you want something simple?  and i'm like: no, abe said something about a wedding dress should be over the top or there's just no point.  so she's like: how much are you planning on spending?  i'm thinking "how much am i planning on spending....$0, how much are you going to spend...$4,000.  but instead i just said, under $5,000 with fittings.  she didn't seem to cringe, but we were just on the phone so she might have made a horrible face.  i think it's way too hard to predict how much i might spend considering i haven't seen any in person yet, and i love both high fashion and a good deal.  i do know that i want it to be special and not just a white dress that can be worn to a cocktail hour or something like that.  it should be light, airy, complementing, and look like a million bucks even if it's real inexpensive.  i've seen a lot that i like with all varying prices, the one thing i worry about is that i'm so fickle.  hopefully the one i choose is one that i'll love till the big day.

Rosanna

check out this tea set by Rosanna. She's a table top designer, i didn't know such people existed, but i guess they do. so this site is extra cool because everything is recycled and recycleable. her collection is really bold with clean lines, which is my favorite, and is very modern and playful.

enjoy.

Fun art

it's a guinea pig card! oh my god, and there's more guinea pig things by Foxy and Winston:

I only like this because i love little kid colors and i Love guinea pigs and other assorted small animals that go underappreciated. but there are also some really cute elephant cards and i love elephants too! cute cute cute stuff. then i entered "guinea pig" into the Etsy search and turns out there's lots of guinea pig lovers out there that make cute cards, pins, and accessories. i could actually just make a lot of it myself though, i just had never thought of it before now. i don't know what i'll do when my little cleo is no more. i guess i'll have to go out and get another one that looks just like her and call her Pleo. - i'm just kidding, cleo is irreplaceable.

I was browsing around looking at some really interesting (to me) artwork, and i came across Wayne Pate of Good Shape Design.

Back at the vet

Well we are waiting in the vets office for a follow up appointment for my little princess. For the first time ever someone asked me if I was holding a guinea pig. Usually they think cleo is a kitten or a hamster. She looks nothing like a 1 ounce hamster or 5 pound feline. The girl smiled when I said yes. She must have been a previous piggie owner. Cleo is Not happy being made to wait her turn. She is a princess afterall.

Water me!

check this out! it's a self watering planter for indoor plants. the design comes in all colors and sizes and it's just ingenious, it actually monitors the moisture of the plant and when needed it brings water in through a little reservoir. it's by karim rashid, and back when i actually paid $8 per issue of ID magazine he was my very favorite designer because of his minimalist but smart style. when we move into our new place i'm going to buy several of these planters. the website also contains lots of cool stuff for cool people: Velocity, your home for modern living.

Jezebel and TMZ are the most vicious and Fashionista is the most fun especially when they have blind items! yes, i literally read all of these every day, most of them i read more than once as things tend to pop up later in the day.

House of Mouse

How adorable are these little things!! They are found on Etsy by the House of Mouse and are used as cake toppers or just cute little do-dads. the company does custom mice too, so you can request different outfits or flowers or whatever you find appealing. i even saw a yoda mouse in her store.

$60 and worth every little penny i'm sure, $7 shipping.

Me & Ro

Me & Ro. i was just about to write up a post on a new favorite jewelry designer. i love the pieces because to me, they're simple, organic with smooth lines, and cool enough to go with just about any outfit day or night. i wasn't prepared for them to be expensive... but i won't lie, they're not cheap and i should have known this after spotting them at Neiman Marcus. i'm totally a Cartier type of girl, but seeing as how they use all high quality metals and nothing just plated then i guess i can understand the price tag. they can be found along with other trendy designers at: http://www.ylang23.com/index.cfm
