Green bags

i have seen this infomercial a million times. it's for Green Bags, which promises to keep your produce fresh for much much longer than normal. i kind of wish that i had picked up the phone and called green bags 800 number when i saw the infomercial over the weekend, but i restrained myself only to go to the website on monday and order them. abe read up about them and apparently everyone who has used them says that they really do work.

http://www.greenbags.com/

i think it was the future-mrs. cho in me that really wanted to buy from the infomercial. abe has a long history of wanting to try all the new stuff from infomercials. i'm not even going to embarrass myself by listing the variety of products that he found empty promises in.

braids on parade

i like my hair off my face, so about 4 days a week or more i wear my hair all up in a bun. not like a cool bun either, like a funky-messy-stylized bun. but just a boring secretary/old teacher bun because i just don't care enough to make it pretty. i think that this spring and summer i might try my hair like sienna miller's heidi crown of braids hairdo. i think my hair needs to grow a couple more inches, and then i'll be ready to test it out. i'll take a picture. everyday i become increasingly bored with my current look. this might just spice things up.

weekend update.

friday night on our date night we watched No Country for Old Men and Mighty Heart.  i do not recommend either of these.  no country was just so disturbing to me that i had my head under a blanket for 1/2 of it.  and they both were just too depressing for entertainment value.  i think that the acting was great, but the movies as a whole were lacking and over-hyped.

we went to the Natick Collection on saturday and abe and i got matching sneakers : )  pictures to come.  abe also got a pair of rock and republic jeans and prada sneakers, but he might be returning the sneakers...they're still in debate mode, i mean they're sneakers so why be so excessive.  i love that mall, it has everything you'd ever want and more except a place to take a nap.

We got another guitar for our wii so now we can do 2 player mode. One person plays the bass and one plays the lead guitar. Its so much more fun than it was before! What a big mistake. Now instead of me being annoyed late at night when abe is playing his game ill be up late playing too. Damn damn damn.

Time-out

I was reading my friend's newest blog post today: it was pretty eye opening. i'm sure it's because she's a few years older than me, so she finds these little life lessons and experiences before i do but when i see them it's like Bam in my face.

How much time a day do you spend on yourself, not just on yourself but For yourself. so like getting pretty in the morning doesn't really count as for yourself because it's actually to look presentable for work. i've figured that i spend no more than 1.5 hours for myself a day, and that's only a little more than 1 hour at the gym, a shower after, and then 5 minutes or so laying in bed waiting for abe to brush his teeth (i love laying in bed). the rest of my day is spent organizing other people's lives, remembering other people's stuff, remembering birthdays and to-do lists, going to the bank, errands, feeding and tending to cleo, cleaning the kitchen after making dinner. honestly the gym might not be just For me....it's really so i don't get fat causing people to not love me anymore or think i'm disgusting or be known as the fat one. 1.5 hours actually probably isn't all that bad, there's probably a whole lot of people who spend far less time for themselves, but i like to call those people Parents and that was their own decision....and isn't your child kind of a piece of yourself? i say that now, but when i have a baby life will be different.

I complain about city life all the time: the noises, the idiots, the subway, the litter, the smells, the lack of spacious apartments, the lack of yards for grilling and pools, where do i freakin tan?, running in the city with cars is just a danger to yourself, etc. so why do i live here? wouldn't it be so nice to wake up to the sound of birds or fresh cut grass? i'm not sure. i hate birds and their noises and the smell of grass makes me sneeze. allergies are much worse in the suburbs too and i become a sneezing, sniffling, headache machine. my last experience in the suburbs - the summer after graduation, made me feel that the suburbs were where cool went to die. the birds woke me up at 7am on the weekends, scary things howled at night, deer were everywhere jumping in front of your car at night for no reason, the trash men were even louder than in the city, nothing was open past 10 except for the wendy's drivethough in the next town, my dad woke up to cut the grass at 8am and didn't stop till 11am.....there was no sleeping in at my house for anyone or my neighbors. a sunday would consist of planting flowers, watering everything that grows, my dad grilling any kind of meat while i brought him utensils and plates to and from, and making sure the dog didn't run away. i guess there's lots of tradeoffs. i'm still a city girl for now.... shopping, restaurants, and commute to work all have the upper hand.

Pals

I'm 26 years old and this is what my stuffed animals look like in the morning after the bed is made. The funnier part is that I didn't do it. Abe likes them too.

Wedding Band

i had a dream last night. i dreamt that i had gone wedding band shopping and picked out my band. it was this one only slightly more rose gold than gold. and at first i thought: man i don't like yellow gold that much, but then the contrast to my platinum ring looked so good complimenting all the diamonds. when i go wedding band shopping, i'll be sure to try this one on with my ring to see how it fits. it's the band i've always wanted only i thought i wanted it in platinum, but my dream told me to try something different and think outside the box.

new apartment

we got it.  the 2 bed/2 bath, luxury apartment sort of in porter square on mass ave...i think it's technically a condo.  underground parking, all awesome everything.  now we just need to hire movers and get out of this place that brings us no more joy and move into the place that will bring us joy and financial unrest.

cambridge point condominiums.

update on life

i'm really stressed. we find out today or tomorrow if we got the apartment we put applications in for on friday. it's really expensive, so on one hand if we don't get it, we can find somewhere else cheaper and crappier but have more money. and on the other hand, if we get it, we'll be living in luxury for the next year or two and learn to be more frugal. it might be a good life lesson on budgeting.

i've decided that i want to go on a car trip to canada. i've never been to canada before, so what better time than springtime? i know nothing about canada.... i bet it's really cold.

i'm really tired. i don't like staying up till 3 on the weekends anymore, we've done it about 3 weeks in a row and i just can't take it anymore. you can say i'm old and that's fine, i really don't care. i just hate the feeling of being overly tired on a monday. No-More!! it has made me more sluggish, more hungry for bad foods, less motivated to work out, and i hate it.

i'm really craving thai food: drunken noodles. sugar and spice on mass ave got much better than it used to be a year ago. abe thinks that the tom yum is even more authentic. i think it's only somewhat authentic, but far better tasting than anywhere else we've been.
i really want to see Horton Hears a Who. megan suggests that i become a mentor so that i can see all these kids movies that all look so great to me and nobody actually wants to see with me. that idea would be perfect except....the whole kids thing. i dont know what my problem is. kids are great, but not All kids are great. i'd rather wait for them to come on netflix!!
i'm still on the hunt for a pretty yellow dress that won't put me in the poorhouse. i'd like it to be under $75 and nice enough to wear to work and cool enough to wear whenever. i might need two. one demure one for work and one mini for weekends...

Things learned

the size that your umbrella folds down into reflects the circumference of when it's open protecting you from rain. tiny purse umbrella = teeny tiny mushroom stump of rain protection. perhaps sizing up a bit would be more beneficial. i don't know why i've never realized this.

i still hate hoodies, they look bad on everyone from randy jackson to audrina patridge to heidi klum.

Things on my want list:

an umbrella with a duck on the handle, that is big enough to cover me.
a pretty yellow dress for spring

new sandals
a really good day.

First apt

It was spacious. It was in a good location. The tenants were nice. There was a parking spot.

What it wasn't: modern, clean, updated, awesome.

10 couples have seen it already but not one bit. I'm guessing they thought the same thing: slight let down. Boo!

worst night ever.

my landlord just stopped by and told us that we need to move out by May 1.  his business folded and he needs to move back in here in order to declare residency here so the house doesn't get taken away.  i LOVE this place.  i love this apartment so much, it's gorgeous, spacious, i have a walk in closet, everything is totally renovated, the kitchen is immaculate, we have a washer and dryer in the unit, we have a parking spot, and it's 4 min. to the train.  what the F are we going to do now?

a.  run around screaming like a crazy person.
b.  find a new place immediately.

right  b.  find a new place makes the most sense.  another obstacle we have is that abe is about to go on a tour of paris, london, and sao paulo for 3 weeks on business.  so we need to have a handful of good looks before he leaves.  i don't know what to do.

this is not as bad as cancer or death, but it's worse than stubbing your toe or getting punched in the face and a broken nose.

so when we moved here we bought all new furniture to fit the place perfectly.  it's a big place therefore we bought big furniture.  when we bought it people delivered it with lots of muscle work.  now that we need to move out, we're going to have to hire movers to take it all out.  also, the dresser will need to go back out the window in a custom job.  this costs money.  we spent thousands of dollars already, and now we're going to have to spend thousands more.  it's in no way an ideal situation.  abe is trying to think of it as a way to upgrade.  but really, i think this place is plenty of an upgrade and i don't want to spend more.....but of course we'll have to.  we just bought a car.

this makes me want to stomp on my egg tree.

The princess

We had a trip to the vet but she will be perfectly fine thank goodness. Many years left on this girlfriend. Many bitchy years.

Lara Bars!

These things are soooo awesome. they are vegan energy bars made from all natural ingredients, no preservatives at all, and are very very tasty. my favorite is cherry pie. they boast about 190 calories each and they do have about 8g fat, but it's all natural fat because each bar has nuts for protein and energy which are actually quite healthy because who really gets enough nuts in a day? there's literally only 3-5 ingredients per bar so you know exactly what you are getting.

Egg tree again

Well my tree is coming along and last night I got all the eggs strung and hung up onto the branches. I jeweled two of the eggs but it takes a long time per egg so this is a real pain in my ass. It better look good!

Egg tree update

Check out this mother! Its freaken awesome. I have to string all the eggs with ribbon and get them hung in the right positions and then I'm going to take them and jewel them and then hang them back up to dry. I used green planter stuff to hold the willow branches in place in the pot and then I put easter grass to cover it and then I put little baby ckicks in the grass for a cuteness effect. Baby chicks in the next photo!

Chacarero

I love Chacarero. it's really a treat. it's a sandwich with chicken, beef, or nothing topped with tomato, steamed green beans, avocado spread and a spicy sauce. i thought that the chicken was my favorite kind. turns out that it's even better if you just minus the chicken and get it vegetarian.

oh how i love you chacarero!

Egg tree part III

Acrylic paint. I should have done this from the beginning. It coats better and the color is much more saturated. Don't mind my strange contraption to dry the eggs. Now I just need to get more to replace the ones I tried to marbleize.

these are by anthropologie. aren't they cute? i love the concept, but i'm not sure on the design, i think that i would like them more if they were smoother without the texture.

still cute. $18 each.

Chloe just launched a new scent. when it comes to fragrances i like things to be clean, light, fresh, floral. i wonder if that's what this smells like? it's possible.

Egg tree I

That is one dozen eggs minus their shells. This is a lot harder and more time consuming than I initially thought. I wish I had abe do some before he left. Cleo is no help.

vegan "cheese"

perhaps one of the most disgusting foods on the planet. i got "swiss flavored" cheese. it was not swiss flavored, and it was not the consistency of cheese. it was throw up flavored and the consistency of pudding. that really ruined my salad, i think i'll stick to real cheese next time!

Family Weekend Part II

Sunday we had dinner at Smith & Wollensky's with my parents and brother and new girlfriend. she was exactly what i expected. i ate myself into a meat coma. everything was delicious. none of us even ordered from the restaurant week menu, it didn't have anything stunning available. our valet left us cookies in a little baggie on the dashboard. isn't the funny? i wonder if anyone actually eats those....they made me nervous like a valet had manhandled cookies with their dirty hands and then expect us to eat them. abe spent the rest of his night preparing for his trip to mexico city. i thought he'd spend it playing guitar hero, but i think he was too pooped.

we had time to go to Michael's to get all my supplies to make the easter egg tree i saw in martha stewart, the only problem is that i somehow forgot to buy eggs.... i'm forgetful lately. i'll try and remember to do that tonight.

Bad news, cleo is sick. i'm not sure what's wrong with her, but my little cleoleo is under the weather. she's going to visit the vet on monday, i wish it were sooner though, i'm worried.

Guitar hero

So abe loves his hero and he has actually gotten really good at it in only a few days. His band that is on tour is called Argyle Abe. He is already on the medium level. I just started to get into it tonight. I'm just ok at it but I passed the first level and my band is called Panda Express after panda not really the Chinese food takeout place. I can see why its so addicting too. You need to play it continuously so that pressing the buttons becomes second nature. I thought abe was being obsessive but once you get started you don't want to stop and lose your groove. This game is totally awesome and I'm really happy we finally got a wii.

Go Panda Express!!

Family weekend

The chos are in town and you know what that means: dual parent dining. Luckily sang, Melissa, and Lauren were able to join us at the summer shack for some lunch. Everything went really well nobody did anthing really embarrassing and Lauren kept us all entertained. My parents love babies and seafood so they we're happy. Tomorrow I get to meet Brad's girlfriend.

Family weekend to be continued.

bookmark hell

here at work they surprised me with a brand new computer (new to me). i was excited because my old was a total piece of crap that wasted a lot of time thinking and freezing and pausing and generally being in slow-mo. this one is so much better. the only problem is that i opened internet explorer to go to perez, which i always do via bookmarks for some reason....and what?? all my bookmarks are gone. of course i didn't think about that. i saved all my pictures and other things on the server, but never thought about bookmarks. all my wedding bookmarks are gone, all my vacation bookmarks, gone, fashion, gossip, blogs, favorite websites: Gone. where do i go from here? it's like i lost all my phone numbers and had to start from scratch.

guitar hero

abe picked it up today.  it's already ruining my life.  abe loves it!

Wedding china

i really want wedding china. i think that it should be elegant, beautiful, but not boring or stuffy. it should be something you want to use.
i LOVE LOVE this china. it's by Mikasa, which i don't even think is that high end, but it's totally me. and the price is do-able.

5 pieces for $73, not bad at all.

This is by Vera Wang, and of course it's lovely because it's Vera but i actually like the Mikasa a little better, there's more personality.
but this one is $139 per 5 piece set.

Easter tree

it's just one of those weeks. the kind where everything is annoying and nothing is cool. but this is pretty cool, i think i'm going to pick up the supplies this weekend and put it together while abe is away next week. it's a tree with decorated easter eggs hanging like ornaments:

Skinny bitches

this book might have ruined my life. i fell asleep last night dreaming of soy substitutes and vegan burgers. and beyond that, i actually am going to give up my beloved splenda. this morning i put my usual french vanilla silk soymilk into my coffee and 2 tsp. of real sugar. after 10 minutes i got used to it. no more splenda in my life. the way they talked about it really disturbed me and what i was putting into my body on a daily basis because i do drink coffee 6 times a week on average and put 2 packets of splenda into each cup. my body will be a lot happier with it out i think. i'm not about to give up meat even after a full chapter on animal neglect and abuse at the slaughterhouses and how sick all the animals get and yet still get processed and sent to grocery stores and restaurants. nobody monitors these places and they don't want to lose money so even if an animal is beyond sick they still make sure he's packaged up into hamburger for everyone to enjoy. so i'm not going to give up meat, or chicken or anything, but i'm going to try to eat vegetarian meals 2 days a week to cleanse out my body a little bit. even though i do truly feel awful about all the mistreatment of animals, i still know that eating meat is something that i can't give up for both my enjoyment and the happiness of my boyfriend. it would be totally unacceptable for him to have tofu for dinner 5 nights a week.

Monday, March 3, 2008

easter eggs.

who wants to come over and decorate easter eggs with me? i was thinking painting them and rhinestoning them and feathering them. i want to use the white eggs and do the blow the yolk out method that i once saw on girls next door, but have never personally done. i don't think anyone cool wants to come and play with me...

this is so sad : (

Argh.

today, i'm in a horrible mood.

pretty much everything anyone says internally i'm like: you're so stupid. i feel like everyone is out to offend me. this is not good.

Jovavich-Hawk is now available at target.com, it's the new designer line. it's funny though, it looks good on the ultra skinny models, but horrible on the regular person models because everything is very loose and flowy. i'm not feeling good about it.
