this book might have ruined my life. i fell asleep last night dreaming of soy substitutes and vegan burgers. and beyond that, i actually am going to give up my beloved splenda. this morning i put my usual french vanilla silk soymilk into my coffee and 2 tsp. of real sugar. after 10 minutes i got used to it. no more splenda in my life. the way they talked about it really disturbed me and what i was putting into my body on a daily basis because i do drink coffee 6 times a week on average and put 2 packets of splenda into each cup. my body will be a lot happier with it out i think. i'm not about to give up meat even after a full chapter on animal neglect and abuse at the slaughterhouses and how sick all the animals get and yet still get processed and sent to grocery stores and restaurants. nobody monitors these places and they don't want to lose money so even if an animal is beyond sick they still make sure he's packaged up into hamburger for everyone to enjoy. so i'm not going to give up meat, or chicken or anything, but i'm going to try to eat vegetarian meals 2 days a week to cleanse out my body a little bit. even though i do truly feel awful about all the mistreatment of animals, i still know that eating meat is something that i can't give up for both my enjoyment and the happiness of my boyfriend. it would be totally unacceptable for him to have tofu for dinner 5 nights a week.Tuesday, March 4, 2008
